SBMT #01: Understand Your Target Market
Like the foundation of a house, target markets are the cornerstone of any great business. Without a target audience in mind, coming up with successful marketing strategies becomes more difficult and a lot less focused. In order to start marketing for your business, you need to figure out who you are marketing to. There are two main ways of figuring out who your target audience is.
The first way is to figure out who would benefit from your product or service. These are a couple of questions you could ask yourself to help you out.
1. What age group are they?
2. What gender?
3. What do they wear?
4. Where would they hang out?
5. What kind of things do they like to do?
6. How can they empathize with your brand?
Try to narrow it down to a specific group of people. This way, you can have a better idea of how to market to that demographic.
The second way to figure out your target market is to simply choose one. Maybe you would like to start a business but don’t know what to sell or provide. Just choose a demographic and try to think of something that would help them on a day-to-day basis or just improve their quality of life. Either way is a viable option.
